Day 1: Friday, April 12, 2024 | Arrive in Lima Peru

Welcome to Lima, the “City of Kings!” Upon arrival, meet your Bluegreen Host at your hotel.

Day 2: Saturday, April 13, 2024 | Lima – Paracas

Enjoy a scenic drive south along the Pan-American Highway to the town of Pisco, the wine capital of Peru. Have your camera handy today as you board your aircraft for flightseeing over the Nazca plains, a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Your pilot will point out the mysterious markings known as the Nazca Lines, a series of drawings of animals and geometric figures etched into the parched soil—some up to 1,000 feet long!

Day 3: Sunday, April 14, 2024 | Paracas – Ballestas Islands – Lima

Embark on a cruise out to the Ballestas Islands, nicknamed “The Peruvian Galapagos,” which are inhabited by a wide variety of sea mammals and exotic birds, including boobies, sea lions, and Humboldt penguins. The huge Candelabro, a candelabra-shaped etching on the Paracas cliffside, can also be seen as you cruise back to shore. Continue back to Lima this afternoon where you will meet your Tour Director and enjoy free time.

Day 4: Monday, April 15, 2024 | Lima – Cusco – Sacred Valley

Fly to Cusco, the impressive Andean city that was once the capital of the Inca Empire. Head into the Sacred Valley of the Incas where you stop to visit Awanakancha. See a pre-Columbian weaving demonstration from local families who preserve this ancient technique. You will also see llamas, alpacas, guanacos, and vicuñas! Continue to Pisac, an old mountain village, where you will have free time to shop its famous market for local wares such as alpaca sweaters and blankets, jewelry, or hand-painted ornamental dishes and vases. Stay in the Sacred Valley tonight.

Day 5: Tuesday, April 16, 2024 | Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Climb aboard your train to Machu Picchu that travels through scenic Urubamba Valley. Upon arrival, ascend to legendary UNESCO World Heritage Site Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas,” which is high above the steep valley overlaid with dense tropical jungle. Machu Picchu is considered the most spectacular sight in South America. Your Local Guide will bring you closer to the lives and mysteries still hidden in these amazing structures built by the Pre-Columbian masters of this sacred land. Later this afternoon, return to Cusco via train. Enjoy dinner at your hotel this evening. (Please note: 7-8 hours is spent in Machu Picchu/Aguas Calientes region reaching elevations of around 7900 feet above sea level.)

Day 6: Wednesday, April 17, 2024 | Cusco

This morning, learn more about the Incas and their struggle against invading Spaniards on your Cusco city tour. Visit the semi-circular Kenko Amphitheater with its stone altars and labyrinth of passages, and the Temple of Sacsayhuaman, perched on a hillside overlooking Cusco. It remains unfathomable how and when this fortress of gigantic stones—with some blocks weighing more than 350 tons—was built. Also visit archaeological sites, Tambomachay and Puca Pucara, and hear about the history these Peruvian ruins.

Day 7: Thursday, April 18, 2024 | Cusco

Today explore more in Cusco with a walking tour that includes visits to the imposing Cathedral and the Inca Temple of the Sun, Koricancha, which became the Spaniards’ Santo Domingo Monastery. This evening say farewell to your fellow travelers with a special dinner.

Day 8: Friday, April 19, 2024 | Cusco – Lima

Fly to Lima and begin your guided sightseeing. Start at the elegant Cathedral de Plaza de Armas to see the Government Palace. From here, stroll to the venerable San Francisco Monastery where you can admire the artwork and enter the catacombs. Enjoy free time this afternoon and evening, consider visiting one of Lima’s many museums or maybe relax by the Pacific ocean.
