Welcome to Athens! Enjoy a pre-night in Athens to help you adjust to the time change and prepare for your exciting journey throughout Greece. Meet your Bluegreen Host in the hotel lobby upon arrival.

Day 2: Sunday, September 29, 2024 | Athens

Enjoy a free day to tour the city or relax, adjusting to the time change! This evening meet your Bluegreen Host, Tour Director, and fellow Bluegreen owners for a welcome dinner at your hotel.

Day 3: Monday, September 30, 2024 | Athens – Meteora – Kalambaka

This morning, depart Athens for Kalambaka. On the way to Kalambaka visit the magnificent natural setting in Meteora where stratospheric rock formations surround the ancient monasteries perched on the clifftops. Here, gigantic rocky outcrops reach 600 meters high above the plains of Thessaly where you’ll visit the stunning, red-roofed monasteries of Varlaam and St. Stephen.

Day 4: Tuesday, October 1, 2024 | Kalambaka – Veria – Thessalonika

Travel to Thessalonika making a stop in Veria to visit the Bema of Apostle Paul. Once you arrive in Thessalonika, take an orientation drive where you will see the iconic White Tower, a 15th-century prison tower standing 34-meters high. Hear the history of the Ottoman Empire and tragic ends of those who were imprisoned here. Pass through the Aristotelous Square, the Jewel of Thessalonika on the sea front. End your day by visiting the beautiful Church of Saint Demetrius, learning about the patron saint of Thessaloniki’s secret ministry.

Day 5: Wednesday, October 2, 2024 | Thessalonika – Excursion to Philippi & Kavala

This morning follow the path of Apostle Paul where he traveled in 49-50 CE to spread the Word of Christ. Visit the Greek Orthodox church and Lydia’s Baptistry, the first Greek and European woman to be baptized by Apostle Paul. Visit the Archaeological Site of Philippi, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. These ancient ruins include the Roman Forum, Basilicas, and Theater that became the center of Christian faith following the visit of Apostle Paul. Once you arrive in Kavala, take an orientation drive that includes Neapolis of the Acts and St. Paul’s mosaic. You will have free time for lunch before returning to Thessalonika.

Day 6: Thursday, October 3, 2024 | Thessalonika – Thermopylae - Athens

Today travel to Thermopylae on your way to Athens. Travel through the coastal floodplain of the Spercheios river, surrounded by sloping forested limestone mountains and the thermal springs of Thermopylae. In Thermopylae, stop at the battle site where Greek Spartans, Thebans, and Thespians fought Persian invaders during the historic Battle of Thermopylae in this narrow coastal passage. This evening partake in a delectable 4-course dinner featuring Greek specialties and authentic Greek entertainment!

Day 8: Saturday, October 5, 2024 | Cruising: Kusadasi, Turkey – Excursion to Ephesus – Patmos, Greece

In Kusadasi, explore one of the largest Roman archaeological sites in the eastern Mediterranean with a visit to Ephesus, Turkey. Take a guided visit to the Ephesus Archaeological site in the city where St. Paul wrote many “Letters to the Corinthians.” Excavations of this UNESCO World Heritage Site have revealed grand monuments of the Roman Imperial era, including the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre. See the domed cruciform House of Mary where the Blessed Mother spent her final days, a revered Christian pilgrimage site in this once Roman port city and sea channel. Enjoy free time on the island of Patmos, reputed to be where St. John wrote both his Gospel and the Apocalypse.

Day 9: Sunday, October 6, 2024 | Cruising: Heraklion, Crete – Santorini

Today take a guided tour in Heraklion of the extraordinary royal ruins of the Minoan Palace of Knossos, where Greek mythology tells the story of King Minos and a heroic prince who battled the mighty Minotaur for the hand of a princess. Later visit the island of Santorini (weather permitting) and enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore the island.

Day 10: Monday, October 7, 2024 | Athens (Disembarkation) – Corinth – Athens

Today disembark your cruise and take a scenic drive to Corinth, stopping at Corinth Canal for a photo op! Once in Corinth, your guided tour includes a visit to the excavations, including Agora and St. Paul’s Bema, where Apostle Paul faced the Forum’s court. Next head to Athens for a guided sightseeing tour visiting the Areopagus and the Acropolis. Stop for a photo opportunity at the all-marble Panathenaic Stadium, the location of the first Olympic Games! The Olympic flame is still passed to the current host nations to begin the games today. This afternoon spend free time in Athens before a farewell dinner at your hotel.
