10-Day, Daily Activity Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Edinburgh, Scotland

As you arrive, enjoy free time for the remainder of the day. This evening meet your Bluegreen Host, Tour Director and travel companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel.

Day 2 - Edinburgh

This morning go on a sightseeing tour with a Local Guide to explore Edinburgh! You will see the New Town and the Old Town as well as visit Edinburgh Castle to see Scotland’s Crown Jewels. In the afternoon, attend the world-renowned Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo performance, an extravaganza of bagpipes and drums performed en masse in August each year.

Day 3 - Edinburgh – St. Andrews – Pitlochry – Culloden Moor – Inverness

This morning see the fairways and greens at the birthplace of golf, where legendary players of the Scottish game made history in the university town of St. Andrews. Walk through the Victorian mountain resort in Pitlochry then drive through the scenic Grampian Mountains and Cairngorms National Park. Followed by a visit to the Culloden battlefield site and visitor center. Once we get to Inverness enjoy an unrestricted encounter with Bronze Age history at the 4,000-year-old Clava Cairns burial site, then reflect on its symbols and significance during an included drink at a local pub!

Day 4 - Inverness – Highlands – Dunrobin – Thurso

As we drive toward Thurso, visit a local favorite whisky distillery in the Highlands. On this guided tour you will learn about the distillery process with a sample of authentic and historic malt whisky. Next stop in Dunrobin to visit the castle and walled gardens. Once in Thurso, enjoy some free time before dinner.

Day 5 - Thurso, Excursion to the Orkney Islands

Drive to John O’Groats to board a ferry for a scenic crossing to the Orkney Islands. Sightseeing includes the four Churchill Barriers, Scapa Flow, Skara Brae, the Ring of Brodgar, and Kirkwall. Join a local favorite guided tour of The Orkney Brewery, have a light lunch at the Tasting Hall café and then visit Skaill House. Return to the mainland by ferry in the late afternoon. In the evening we have a fun excursion planned that takes you fireside to The Old Smiddy pub for full immersion into a world filled with lively Gaelic storytelling, music, and two drinks of your choice.

Day 6 - Thurso – Durness – Ullapool – Gairloch

Take a scenic drive along the spectacular North Coast 500 route via Durness and Scourie. Once in Ullapool visit the fishing port that includes a Local Favorite of traditional fish & chips lunch at a local restaurant.

Day 7 - | Gairloch – Isle of Skye – Fort William – Glen Coe – Oban

Drive across the Inner Hebridean island. Return to the mainland by ferry across the Sound of Sleat to Mallaig. See the monument to fallen Jacobite clansmen and the famous viaduct in Glenfinnan and then see the gateway to Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak in Fort William. Enjoy a scenic drive en route to Oban.

Day 8 - Oban Excursion to the Isles of Mull and Iona

Take the ferry crossing to the Isle of Mull, also called “Eagle Island” by wildlife watchers. The Isle of Mull is a paradise for birds of prey keeping a watchful eye on the wonderful wild landscapes below. Watch for Scottish red deer, iconic Highland cattle, and rolling hills that paint a picture of quintessential Scotland on a scenic drive across the island. The medieval abbey on the Isle of Iona is the resting place of many Scottish monarchs and chiefs. Visit the burial place of many Scottish kings and chiefs at the Isle of Iona. Visit one of the first Christian monasteries in the British Isles.

Day 9 - Oban – Loch Lomond – Glasgow

In the morning depart for a scenic drive through The Trossachs National Park with a visit at Loch Lomond Lake. In the afternoon, enjoy an orientation drive to see the 12th-century cathedral, university buildings, and Georgian squares. Free time this afternoon before a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
