Daily Itinerary
Your adventure begins with a visit to Snake River Ranch, one of the last working ranches in Jackson Hole. Rich in history and tradition, the ranch has been run by the same family since its founding in 1929. Hear the stories of cowboy life from those who live it and then join the tradition, hitting the trail on a horseback ride. Take in the glorious landscape and wildlife — moose, elk, coyotes, foxes, owls, hawks and bald eagles — of the ranchlands on a wagon ride.
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon back at the resort, taking advantage of the scenic patio with panoramic views of Snow King Mountain, many of the seasonal planned activities, outdoor heated pool or family arcade and game room. Join your fellow travelers for a family-friendly evening of lawn games.
Watch for beavers, eagles, elk and other incredible wildlife as you float by raft down the Snake River. Visit the Colter Bay Visitor Center in Grand Teton National Park, where you will pause to appreciate the rich cultural heritage of the region’s indigenous peoples and the beauty of their artwork. Arrive at Yellowstone National Park, where you will be staying in the cozy lodge atmosphere of Old Faithful Inn, just steps from the famous geyser. What better way to witness the clockwork eruptions than to sleep next door?
The afternoon is yours to explore the wonders of America’s first national park, perhaps meeting the other geysers of Upper Geyser Basin or the park’s diverse wildlife. Enjoy dinner at your leisure back at the lodge.
Devote your day to awe-inspiring natural wonders as you explore the geothermal landscape of Yellowstone with a local expert guide. See the mud pots, hot springs and other volcanic features that shape and define the landscape of the park. Encounter the incredible creatures who call the park home, such as the gray wolf, whooping crane, lynx, grizzly bear and bald eagle. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. The afternoon is yours to enjoy in the park. Make sure to reserve some family time to watch mighty Old Faithful shoot its plume of steam. After a full day of exploration, enjoy dinner at your leisure back at the lodge.
Marvel at more of Yellowstone’s magnificent scenery on your drive to Cody, Wyoming, partly founded by Buffalo Bill Cody. Immerse yourself in the culture and history of the American West at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. This vast complex of five museums showcases all things Western, with informative exhibits about Western art, the Plains tribes, historic firearms, regional natural history and the life of Buffalo Bill Cody. Tuck in for a Western-style dinner and then get rowdy, because the rodeo awaits. Witness the adrenaline-pumping antics of steer-wrestlers, calf-ropers, barrel racers and bucking broncos, as you watch the expertise of the cattle profession on full display at the Cody Nite Rodeo, often called the “rodeo capital of the world.”
Your journey today winds you through the Bighorn Mountains and past the canyons and grasslands of Wyoming. Spend your morning at the TA Ranch, site of a famous siege and shootout in 1892, during the Johnson County War. Meet the furry residents of the farm, including foals and baby goats and try your hand at milking a cow. Continue to the Ranch at Ucross in Clearmont for a fun afternoon of swimming and games. After dinner, channel your inner Gene Autry as you gather ‘round a cowboy campfire for stories, songs and s’mores.
Your tour concludes in the Black Hills of South Dakota with the towering, larger-than-life monuments of Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore. The Crazy Horse Memorial is no less grand for being a work in progress. Commissioned by an Oglala elder in 1948 to show “that we have heroes too,” Crazy Horse is being carved into the face of Thunderhead Mountain. The monument, when it’s completed, will be the largest rock sculpture in the world. Next, see the famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial, where George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln look out from the granite face of the mountain. Head to the K Bar S Lodge in Keystone, South Dakota, for your overnight stay and a farewell dinner with your trail companions.
Your adventure ends in Rapid City, South Dakota, with breakfast before you fly home.

HOSTED TRIPS POINTS FOR TRAVEL: Reservations must be booked by February 6, 2026. Nonrefundable, non-transferable deposit of $1,000/£750 per person is due at the time of booking. Final payment due by April 3, 2026. Any combination of annual, biennial, borrowed or rented points and/or a cash/credit card are applicable forms of payment towards a hosted trip vacation. Tour itinerary activities in this region may be subject to favorable weather conditions. The maximum elevation on this trip is 9,033 feet (2,753 meters). If you have a heart condition or lung ailment, please consult your physician before you book your trip. For all Guests under 18 who are not traveling with all legal guardians, Tauck recommends a notarized letter, signed by the parent or parents not traveling with the child and stating the child's name, adult guardian's name, itinerary, dates of travel and flight information. Float trip on the Snake River requires stepping in and out of an inflatable raft, the minimum age to participate must be 6 years old, and all guests must have a chest circumference of less than 58" to fit in the life jacket and be able to participate. There are no elevators at The Ranch at Ucross or at the Holiday Inn Cody. Long pants and closed-toed shoes are required for horseback riding. Alcoholic beverages are only available to travelers who are 21 years or older. Hotels may differ from those listed by the tour provider, but the accommodations selected are of equivalent standard. Your hotels will be available in your final documents approximately 2-3 weeks prior to departure. No compensation is provided for alternative hotel stays not listed in the tour provider’s documentation.
