Welcome to beautiful Zurich. Settle in and meet your HGV host, tour director and fellow travelers for a welcome dinner.
Take a morning stroll through Zurich’s Altstadt — the city’s Old Town — where historic guild-houses and squares span the Limmat River. Gaze up at the green steeple of the Fraumünsterkirche, famous for its stained-glass windows designed by Chagall and Giacometti. Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore the global watchmaking capital of Biel/Bienne and grab lunch in Neuchâtel, a charming medieval town situated beside the sparkling waters of Lake Neuchâtel, as famous for its vineyards as for its watchmaking. Once you get settled in Geneva, you’ll cross the border to France for your dinner this evening. Enjoy a memorable and sumptuous three-course meal.
Explore Geneva’s cobblestone streets and discover secret passages as you make your way through this hub of the Protestant Reformation. See the imposing Saint Pierre Cathedral and amble the tree-lined greenways of Parc des Bastions, where giant carvings of Calvin, Farel, Knox and Beza decorate Reformation Wall. Enjoy a moment of beauty and relaxation as you glide past the Swiss Alps on a guided cruise, stopping in the charming village of Yvoire, France. On the shores of Lake Geneva, Yvoire is a picturesque medieval village packed with stone houses and wooden balconies that will transport you back in time for an evening of leisure.
Today’s focus is on Switzerland’s delicious local specialties. First, cross into France for free time to browse in the resort and spa town of Évian-les-Bains, located on the shores of Lake Geneva. Then, your culinary adventure begins with lunch in Gruyères. Here, the Castle of Gruyères is perched on a hilltop in the canton of Fribourg. Your lunch of local specialties will be crowned by a special dessert featuring local meringue and double crème. Then head over to Broc and visit the Maison Cailler Swiss chocolate factory for a tasting of some of the world’s most famous chocolate.
As you travel toward the Alpine beauty of Grindelwald, stop for an orientation stroll and free time in the car-free mountain paradise of Gstaad, known for its array of both summer and winter mountain activities. Enjoy free time to explore the picturesque town of Interlaken, nestled between the crystal waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Later in the afternoon, explore the thunderous and roaring glacier waterfalls of Trümmelbach Falls with an active excursion inside the mountain. Enjoy your evening at leisure in Grindewald.
All aboard for the mountaintop. A train will carry you to the highest railway station in Europe and the heights of the Jungfrau. Enjoy free time exploring the Top of Europe, wandering the incredible frozen halls of the Ice Palace and visiting the Sphinx Observatory for a view of the longest glacier in the Alps.
Your first stop of the day is in the Swiss capital of Bern. Take a walking tour, visiting the Rose Garden and medieval Old Town. Then drop in at BärenPark (Bear Park) and say hello to the furry residents — Pyrenean brown bears — the city’s namesake. The former bear pit has been expanded to a hillside natural habitat along the Aar River. This afternoon, enjoy free time in Lucerne before heading out for a special evening meal. A tasty three-course dinner of local Swiss specialties awaits. Over dinner, enjoy Swiss music and dancing, featuring alpenhorns and the distinctive cry of yodeling – a Member favorite.
Spend your day in charming Lucerne, nestled in the Swiss Alps and situated on the sparkling waters of Lake Lucerne and the River Reuss. You’ll take a guided tour highlighting the medieval architecture, Chapel Bridge and the Lion Monument. Then climb aboard a gondola ride for a thrilling ascent up Mount Pilatus for magnificent panoramic views. This evening, join your HGV host, tour director and fellow travel companions for a special farewell dinner.
Today, enjoy breakfast in the morning before driving from Lucerne to Zurich for your homebound flights, leaving no earlier than 10 a.m. local time.
