Welcome to Edinburgh! Settle in and meet your HGV host, tour director and fellow travelers for a welcome dinner. You’ll enjoy a three-course Taste of Scotland menu at a local restaurant just a short walk from your hotel and located on the historic Royal Mile.
Explore Scotland’s capital with a guided tour of New and Old Town, a visit to the famous Princes Street and a stroll along the Royal Mile. Then travel up to Edinburgh Castle, perched on Castle Rock, to learn about the historic royal residence. You’ll have free time to visit inside the castle and even see the Crown Jewels.
Enjoy a delightful and award-winning afternoon tea at Palm Court. Relax with a fine herbal infusion under the stunning glass dome and Venetian chandelier. You’ll enjoy a variety of delicate sandwiches, delectable pastries, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and preserves with your afternoon tea.
Trace the footsteps of Jamie and Claire Fraser with your first stop along your “Outlander” journey in Culross, a virtually unchanged 16th-century village known as the fictional town of Cranesmuir. Visit Claire’s herb garden and explore the palace.
Continue on to Doune Castle, known as the “Outlander” Castle Leoch. An audio guide will be provided to learn more about this castle and its appearance in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”. Then journey to the fictional headquarters of the villainous Jack Randall, Blackness Castle and Midhope Castle, known as Jamie’s beloved Lallybroch. Make sure to snap a photo of the picturesque Midhop Castle before your final stop in the colorful harbor of South Queensferry.
This evening you’ll experience the awe-inspiring music, dance and brilliant display of fireworks at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Set against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, performers from every corner of the globe come together to provide an unforgettable evening of performances.
As you journey to Inverness, you’ll enjoy the stunning Highland scenery of rugged mountain ranges, serene lochs and sweeping vistas. You’ll visit Blair Castle, the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl and visit a whisky distillery for a tour and a wee dram or “small drink of whiskey.”
Visit the 15th-century Cawdor Castle and be transported back in time to the castle linked with Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Stroll the beautiful gardens, view the legendary Hawthorne tree and admire the historic rooms.
Continue on to Culloden Battlefield, home of the legendary Jacobite uprising. Walk the footpaths and visit the memorial cairn, erected in 1881. You’ll then visit the garrison of Fort George, originally built as a secure base for King George II’s army during the Battle of Culloden.
Experience the stunning beauty of the Isle of Skye on a full-day tour. You’ll drive through the scenic Black Isle and remote villages before arriving at your first stop of the day, Eilean Donan Castle. Take in the stunning views and explore the 13th-century castle and rooms.
Head inland through rolling hills and ancient forests, and marvel at the beauty of Loch Duich and the dramatic Five Sisters of Kintail mountains. Before your return to Inverness, take a detour to Loch Ness for a photo stop and keep an eye out for Nessie.
All aboard the scenic rail journey on the Jacobite Steam Train. Described as one of the great railway journeys of the world, this round-trip 84-mile journey starts in Fort William near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis. You’ll pass the famous 21-arched Glenfinnan viaduct made famous in the Harry Potter films. Time permitting, the train will stop on the viaduct where you can take in magnificent views and visit the West Highland Railway Museum.
The train passes the picturesque village of Morar and the silvery beaches used in the film “Highlander.” You’ll arrive in Mallaig with free time to explore the shops and restaurants of the busy fishing port. After your return from the Jacobite Steam Train, you’ll transfer to Oban.
Witness the natural beauty of the Inner Hebrides with a ferry from Oban to the Isle of Mull. Explore the brightly colored shops and restaurants of the Main Street at the port of Tobermory. Embark on a journey through the natural beauty of the rugged cliffs, silver-sand beaches and dramatic mountains of Scottish scenery. Journey along Glen More to Fionnphort and take a ferry to the Isle of Staffa to visit the geological wonder of Fingal’s Cave.
Sail south to the Isle of Iona and witness the Benedictine nunnery and the Reilig Oran, the burial place of kings. You’ll return to Oban with one final ferry ride.
Journey along the scenic shores of Loch Awe, Scotland’s longest loch, as you journey to a castle stay in Loch Lomond. Visit Inveraray Castle, the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Argyll. Explore the historical staterooms and impressive gardens with scenic views of Loch Fyne.
Stop in the charming village of Luss and savor a coffee or tea amidst old stone cottages and panoramic loch views.
