Arrive in Vancouver, with time to settle in and meet your HGV host.
Spend your day seeing the sights of Vancouver’s North Shore, featuring spectacular views of the sea, skyline and surrounding mountains. See Chinatown, Gastown and Granville Island. Then take to the air and treetops for a daring walk on the Capilano Suspension Bridge and a turn on the Grouse Mountain Skyride. This evening, get to know your travel companions at a welcome dinner.
Catch a ferry for a 90-minute cruise across the Strait of Georgia for a full day on Vancouver Island, where you will first tour the sprawling wonderland that is Butchart Gardens. This 55-acre paradise of manicured gardens has enough variety to spark everyone’s imagination, from gardens modeled on the Japanese and Italian styles to the divine scents and riotous colors of the rose garden. Spend the rest of the day exploring Victoria, British Columbia’s capital. Use your free time to amble along the waterfront of the Inner Harbour, shop or enjoy the local cuisine before your ferry ride back to Vancouver.
Today, board your train as your GoldLeaf journey begins and glide in comfort through the varied landscapes of British Columbia. From green plains and mountains to the arid province interior, take in every breathtaking view through the glass-domed windows of your railcar or get a closer look from one of the outdoor viewing platforms. Your journey will take you past stunning geographic features, including the Coast and Cascade Mountains, Hell’s Gate in Fraser Canyon and the steep, rocky banks of the Thompson River. Breakfast and lunch will be served on board, so your sightseeing can continue. End your day’s journey as you wind along the shore of Lake Kamloops into town for your overnight stay.
Board your train for day two of your relaxing tour of western Canada. Continue along the Thompson River through the Monashee and Caribou Mountains, crossing the heights of the Continental Divide. You will see the sheer ramparts of Mount Robson — the highest point in the Canadian Rockies, Pyramid Creek Falls and the clear waters of Moose Lake.
Enjoy a full day of sightseeing in the splendor of Jasper National Park. Catch your breath at the deep gorges and roaring waterfalls of Maligne Canyon and take a cruise on the striking blue glacial waters of Maligne Lake. End your day with a group dinner at your hotel.
Leave the rails behind today as you journey on to Banff by motorcoach. A day of adventure on the ice awaits, as you embark on a full day of sightseeing along the scenic Icefields Parkway. Visit the Columbia Icefield, which straddles the Continental Divide and is the largest ice field in the Rockies. Take to the ice in a massive, six-wheel drive Ice Explorer, a tank of a vehicle built for navigating glaciers. The tour will give you an up-close and personal encounter with the Athabasca Glacier as your expert guide shares the history and geological features of this river of ice. Brave the heights of the Glacier Skywalk, a 1-kilometer/0.62-mile interpretive walk featuring waterfalls and fossils and culminating in a glass-floored observation platform jutting high over the Sunwapta Valley for spectacular views.
Take a break from your icy explorations for a buffet lunch at the Icefield.
Today, embark on a full day of sightseeing in Lake Louise and Yoho National Park in British Columbia. Enjoy some trainspotting as trains navigate the engineering marvels of the Spiral Tunnels. See other park highlights, including Emerald Lake, the river-carved stones of Natural Bridge and the beauty of Takakkaw Falls. Tonight, you will enjoy dinner with your fellow travelers at the hotel.
Your day starts with more sightseeing in Banff, including a gondola ride up the slopes of Sulphur Mountain. From the top, take in the view of six distinct mountain ranges. More spectacular scenery awaits at Surprise Corner Lookout and the Hoodoos Viewpoint. See Bow Falls and take a scenic cruise on Lake Minnewanka. Then, travel by motorcoach to Calgary, your overnight destination. This evening, step into the past for a memorable farewell dinner with your fellow travelers at Heritage Park, a living history museum on the shores of Glenmore Reservoir. Kick off your evening with a relaxing riverboat cocktail cruise, stroll to the Canmore Opera House for a buffet dinner, accompanied by the rousing music of the Calgary Fiddlers, then thrill at a Wild West gunfight. Your evening wraps up with a delicious dessert and float bar.
Your transfer to Calgary International Airport is included as you prepare for the journey home after breakfast in the morning.
