Welcome to San Francisco. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. This evening, meet your HGV host, tour director and fellow travel companions for a welcome drink.
This morning, enjoy sightseeing in the ‘City by the Bay’ as you visit some of the iconic sites such as the Golden Gate Bridge and explore centuries of architecture, mixed with nature and cultural history in the Presidio of San Francisco. Explore more of San Francisco with a Pick Your Experience this afternoon. Choose from:
Option 1: Indulge in authentic Italian cuisine in San Francisco’s Little Italy. Explore the Italian American neighborhood while savoring classic Italian food.
Option 2: Learn and explore at the California Academy of Sciences and Steinhart Aquarium. Located all in one place, the whole family can explore the natural history museum and then experience one of the most biologically diverse and interactive aquariums on earth.
Option 3: Walk among the majestic cathedral of the redwoods in Muir Woods National Monument. Flat easy trails loop through the groves, ranging from ages of 400–800 years and up to 250 ft in height. Connect with nature on this scenic outing just outside of San Francisco.
As you journey to Sacramento, stop in Sonoma for an orientation tour and free time for lunch. Then, visit a historic family-owned winery, tour their wine caves and sample some wine. Continue to Sacramento and enjoy a sightseeing tour of the Golden State’s capital, highlighting California’s state capitol building, Midtown and the famed Johnny Cash mural. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant with your fellow travelers this evening.
Take in the stunning landscapes on your scenic drive to Lake Tahoe. Today’s journey will include multiple stops at scenic viewpoints as you drive along one of the “Most Beautiful Drives in America.” Enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.
Explore the beauty of Lake Tahoe with a Pick Your Experience activity. Choose from:
Option 1: Take a scenic cruise on Lake Tahoe and glacier-carved Emerald Bay. Emerald Bay is known as one of the top ten most photographed places in the world. Will you capture the perfect shot?
Option 2: Enjoy a ride up in the Heavenly Mountain Gondola to the 9,150-foot-high (2,789 m) observation deck for stunning views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Your glass-cabin gondola will offer scenic views as you ascend to the top.
Option 3: Experience the American Wild West with a journey across state lines to Virginia City, Nevada. Follow the Pony Express route and visit one of the most significant mining discoveries in American history at Comstock Lode.
This evening, gather for a group dinner to share about your day’s activities.
In the morning, journey to Yosemite National Park on a scenic drive through the park with photo stops. After your drive through the park, enjoy a visit to the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center before checking into your luxury Yosemite resort stay for the next three nights. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Option 1: Get close to nature and wildlife with a guided tram tour, then join a Park Ranger to discover natural history and learn about the Native Peoples and new settlers who inhabited the area.
Option 2: See why John Muir described his Yosemite experience as “Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine into a tree.” Connect with nature with a Naturalist as you walk through the breathtaking beauty of the Yosemite region in search of fantastic flora and fauna.
Option 3: For photography lovers, join a privately guided photography tour with expert photography guides from the Ansel Adams Gallery as they give you tips and take you to scenic spots for the perfect shot.
This evening, gather for a group dinner to share about your day’s activities.
In the morning and afternoon, you are free to explore Yosemite National Park at your leisure. Explore more of the park with a hike, mountain bike ride, enjoy family time at the family game room on site or learn archery with archery lessons on site. In the evening, join your HGV host, tour director and your fellow travel companions for a special farewell dinner followed by stargazing into the clear night skies of the Sierras on site.
This morning, after breakfast, depart the resort for a drive back to San Francisco. Be sure to schedule homebound flights for after 4 p.m. from San Francisco International Airport.
