Travel across the rolling hills of the gorgeous Virginia countryside the same way our forefathers did: by rustic wagon, carriage, or horseback.

Reservations are required for all equestrian activities. Please review the general policies and call for current activity schedules. Please note: All reservations are based on first come availability and fill up quickly.

Our Activities:

Trail Rides*

Wrangler Basic Program* (Seasonal)

Mini-camp to teach basic beginner horsemanship

Pony Rides*

Ring Ride* (Seasonal)

30 minutes of walk, trot, or canter in the ring
Must be 12 years old to ride
Must pass stringent riding test
Must be able to mount horse without help

Experienced Ride* (Seasonal)

45 minutes to walk, trot or canter on trails with a guide
Must pass stringent riding test.
Must be able to mount horse without help
Must be 18 years or older
$60 per person

Hours vary and are based on season. Please call the Equestrian center for available dates and times.

General Policies

All riders are required to sign a waiver before riding.
Reservations for all trail rides may be taken up to two weeks in advance.
Riders under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
An adult must be present at all times during the equestrian activity.
Riders must be at least 8 years of age and 50 inches tall.
Riders must weigh less than 250 lbs. to ride. Riders will be required to weigh in at check in.
Please cancel with at least 2 hours notice; cancellations outside 2 hours and riders who do not show up for a scheduled ride will be assessed the full cost.
All riders must report to the stables 30 minutes prior to scheduled ride.
Helmets are required for all persons on trail rides.
Boots are required for the Experienced Ride, Ring Ride and the Wrangler Program.
All rides may be cancelled due to rain, inclement weather, or unsafe riding conditions.
For your safety, all riders are required to wear protective footwear such as sneakers or boots only. Any other footwear will be subject to inspection and improper footwear will result in the cancellation of the scheduled equestrian activity.

An INSURANCE WAIVER, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, AND AUTHORIZATION FORM must be completed and on file in order to participate in these events.
Due to availability of horses—there is no guarantee of riding during your stay at Shenandoah Crossing.
